San Francisco is a city you will never get tired of, where it's full of energy and style. But in UCSF, you cannot expect too much academic atmosphere as you won't really feel like you're in college because of the surroundings and the environment. There are lots of hospitals around that offer internships and job opportunities.

For the time being, you cannot expect too much of the campus in terms of atmosphere, but the town of Merced is still very dynamic and vibrant. I believe this is one of the reasons why the California government is building a new campus here. If you want to go around the big city, you will need to undertake about a two hours drive.

The campus is not as big as other universities in California so campus dormitories are quite small. Parking space is also limited, and some sites are under construction. The university's public security management is also not strict.

The campus is surrounded by trees and nature, has a modern design, and is accessible with clear road signs everywhere. The university's population is a little more than 10,000 students, making it one of the smallest campuses among the other universities in California. As there is not much happening in its surroundings, this is a place where you can concentrate on studying.

UCSD's campus is large and scattered making it difficult for students to get to classes. Also, class size is very large and may not be conducive for some. Aside from this, the university also has strict restrictions regarding student parties, and has no qualms about imposing fines when rules are violated.
